Thieves & Cons

Complete trash. Never showed up with the full trailer. Used a Uhaul instead, then told me I had to pay for another truck to be sent in to get the rest to transport to semi. They steal more money from me, damage most of my stuff and shows up in 2 uhauls. They never had a truck, they lied on the estimate, they broke most of my stuff and won’t let me file a claim. They stole an additional $1700 the day of drop off and held my belongings hostage unless I paid. Tony is a thief and Rachel is an incompetent slut.

Long-distance move from Louisiana to Utah

Extortion racket.

It's hard to put into words just how terrible this company is, but here goes. Sorry it may be a long post BUT if you are considering this company I urge you to read and heed.

Moving daughter in law and granddaughter from LA to UT. They had about 55 boxes, not much. Top Country gave us a quote for $1600. We paid a $600 down payment and they were agreed to pick her stuff up on Jul 30. We got them plane tix for Jul 31st.

The morning of Jul 30th they call and say oops, sorry, can't move you today. It was too late to change tix so we arranged for DIL's friend to handle move.

Sun Aug 2 the driver calls DIL and now says it is $3200 because there was 3x as much as she said. They also charged us $300 for "packing." See picture. This is what they "packed." They literally put tape around a few things, including suitcases that were zipped and secure, and charged $300.

For the next 3 weeks I dealt with Tom, Victoria, Rachel, and Sara at Top Country. At first Tom was all "That's BS I'll get to the bottom of it." 2 days later no call back. Call and he directs me to Victoria. Again she seems sympathetic at first and promises to find out what's going on. Days later they never call back so I have to call. This went on for WEEKS. They would promise to "contact the driver" and call me back but never did. Then they would get mad at me when I called them days after they promised to call me. I was even accused of "badgering" them.

So we finally get a delivery date (that's another thing - was promised stuff in 3-4 days but it took 27 days to arrive). Victoria agrees to have the movers unload the stuff, I would take a pic of it with measurements, and then she would determine (based on cubic feet) what the price is. The day comes and they're not going to deliver it until 9:00 pm local time. I call Victoria to confirm she will be available at that time and she is rude. Says "Nope. You have to pay them. They won't even open the door until you do." I asked well what about your promise to look at the pics to see what the issue was in pricing and she DENIED ever saying she would do it.

Some other issues - the movers never provided an inventory to my DIL's friends who supervised the move. They also never provided the inventory to Top Country's home office until the day of the move. All this time they were telling me she had nearly 80 items, not 55. When I FINALLY got the inventory sheet the day of the move, the items were numbered 211 to 274, which is 64 items, not much more that the initial estimate of 55. They LIED the entire time to jack the price up on me. Tom had the audacity to tell me "this price is a steal" without a hint of irony. I moved 9x in 21 years in the military so I know what moves cost. Three years ago I moved from AR to UT and a guy filled a 26 foot truck with my stuff AND towed my car for $2800. Yet TCM charged me more to move stuff that would not have even filled a 15' U-Haul, no heavy items like furniture and not even a TV. Just boxes of clothes and personal items and granddaughter's books and toys. This company is an extortion racket stay far far away.

Worst Moving Company!!

I’ve had the WORST moving experience with TOP COUNTRY MOVING! IT WAS A TOTAL RIP-OFF!! It was a NIGHTMARE ever since they began to move and it lasted for more than 2 days! From PACKING TO LOADING TO COMMUNICATION/NEGOTIATION, Top Country Moving did a POOR/WORST job. The movers were HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL! – see pics below for reference. I 100% agree with Jacob Clover’s review. ‘I promise you that if you even consider hiring this company it will be the worst decision you will ever had made.’ DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SALES PITCH! Once the movers began to pack, there was NO COMMUNICATION between the dispatch manager (Adam), the movers during the entire process! He failed to check the status of the move and wasn’t aware of the situation until Sunday night/Monday morning! POOR MANAGERIAL AND OPERATIONAL SKILLS! HIS INABILITY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE MADE A BIG MESS!

Out of the two movers, one of them was extremely unprofessional, had an attitude, was not willing to listen or follow directions. They spent a total of 19hrs (Saturday – 3:30pm – 10:00pm; Sunday – 9am – 9:30pm) and were able to get only 40% of the job done! The movers didn’t even wear gloves throughout the entire process!!

LOADING: The truck was from Ryder company, which has the max capacity 1600 cubic ft. They’ve only filled about 50% of the truck and stated that it occupied 1339 cubic ft. They were constantly arguing about this. The below pic shows my stuff and the dotted line represents the cut-off. Any logical person would question the integrity of this situation. How can the dotted line represent 84% (1339 cubic ft/1600 cubic ft)?? The dispatch manager (Adam) failed to resolve this issue! HE FAILED to question the movers, Instead of acting as a liaison between the customer and the packers, he arranged a conference where I had to deal directly with the movers! He wasn’t supportive or helpful.

POOR PACKING: As you can tell from the few pictures below, they packed and loaded my king size bed and queen size bed but left the additional, important elements (What if these get misplaced? I cannot even assemble the bed!!) They barely touched my kitchen stuff and left all the stuff out (see pic below). They were suppose to pack 25 boxes of kitchen stuff and only started packing 1 box, which they didn’t even load! Didn’t finish the job, left the entire house in a mess! What exactly did they do in those 19hrs?

The END RESULT: They’ve only loaded some of my stuff (left MAJOR ITEMS out) and told me that I had to close this contract and begin a new contract and pay ~$2,000 to load the remaining items as they ran out of space! $2,000 is more than 30% of my initial quote!!

3rd day: Even after an entire day of back and forth discussion, Adam, dispatch manager, FAILED to resolve the issue, as they’ve stated that I still have to pay additional amount ($2000 to $1950 to $850) to move the remaining items that is on the inventory list, which they were suppose to move to begin with. This is clearly a SCAM to ask for more money as they failed to provide documentation of the size of the truck, failed to justify that the truck occupied 84% of the truck, when the pic clearly shows that it only had ~50%, left the job mid-way, and the MOVERS WERE HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL!!

I understand that this is a very long review but I am hoping that my review would help you make an informed decision when choosing a moving company. Moving suppose to be HASSLE FREE experience, esp. when you pay over $6000. The experience with the TOP COUNTRY MOVING has been a NIGHTMARE! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TOP COUNTRY MOVING!

Long-distance move from Cabot, VT to Roswell, GA

The Worst.

We paid over 10k to move from VT to GA. About 1/2 of our items were smashed— movers came to deliver our items after 7pm in pouring rain and were here until almost midnight.. (after me asking for them to come following day because of the weather) boxes labeled FRAGILE were upside down and boxes smashed..they were rude and left trash in the front of my new home. (I couldn’t tell bc it was almost midnight. ) RUDE and delivered my items after numerous texts begging. THE WORST> NEVER AGAIN.

Company shouldn’t be in business!

Save yourself from broken and missing belongings. Not a trusting Co! Employees lie & hike up prices and can’t even deliver around the time they promise. Tried to file a claim with their insurance and was told by the insurance co they don’t cover them. I’ve tried reaching out to them and “get disconnected” they don’t answer email questions.

SCAMMERS

First the company raised the price $2,000 2 days before move and then showed up and scratched hardwood floors everywhere and put holes in walls. Also damaged all our stuff, wouldn’t wear a mask, and they were extremely rude and cussing at us, and then didn’t load all our stuff and when they “finished” loading told us that we have to pay another $2105 on top of the rest that we paid. Told them that we were paying extra and it was already on the truck and said we don’t have a choice or they’d keep our stuff. Still waiting on delivery from the company, won’t respond or talk to us on the phone, their contracts specially states that if we don’t go over the original inventory they won’t charge extra, which we didn’t. The 2nd contract they gave us raising it another $2105 after it was already on the truck specifically states that it has to be done before loading anything and it wasn’t. They didn’t give us a choice on paying extra and damaged tons of items. The biggest scam I have ever seen and once they have your stuff there’s nothing you can do. They told us they will be keeping our stuff if we don’t pay the revised price. I don’t see how a company can load all your stuff and then just be like, “by the way your paying more whether you like it or not.”. The ended up taking 27 days to deliver and were supposed to give a 48 hour notice but called an hour before on a Sunday night at 6, and then came around 7:15ish Sunday night. Then wouldn’t accept our Wells Fargo money, only a postal money order. Obviously the post office isn’t open so they made us pay a $500 redelivery fee to come back the next money. Every piece of furniture is damaged, every tv is broken and one tv didn’t even show up. There were countless items destroyed and the guy dropping off said not one thing was wrapped. He showed up in the same size truck and our load didn’t even take up half of the truck. He had 2 other loads with it were as the pickup guys could barely close the door. We talked to him and he said he knows the guys who loaded and said they don’t know what their doing. He said we never should’ve been charged extra on pickup as it was their own incompetence that caused the overage. We have both pickup and drop off all on video and the drop off is all audio recorded by our security cameras. We never should’ve had to pay that extra $2,311 per their own driver. They post their own fake reviews all over to try and trick people. They even had to take down their Facebook page because of all the people calling out their fake reviews and all the bad ones piling up.

Worst experience of my life

PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. IT'S A SCAM. They have an F rating on BBB. They hire criminal companies like Konami Moving and storage to move your items. My items, along with most other people's will show up broken, water damaged, and stolen. The only reason part of my items showed up was because of the 3 news segments I did on them on FOX 4 investigates. The company they frequently use, Konami Moving, has a class action law suit against them. Top Country sends them clients directly so you aren't able to look them up beforehand to see the horrible reviews on them. They are known for breaking and stealing customers items. I only received part of my items after calling them around 5 times a day for 30 days. Don't use this company.

Long-distance move from Salt Lake City, UT to Leander, TX

Worst moving experience of my life!

If I could do a negative star I would!

I can only start by saying, do not get a third part moving company. Do it yourself. They make you “hurry” through your contract, (which means you better know EXACTLY how much stuff you have to move before contacting.) they charged a fee on the phone, (quoted $2,800 for a three bedroom four states move) then call a week before, (can’t get ahold any other way besides wait for them to contact you) and charge more, due to not having the right amount of boxes/furniture in the contract, charged $1,000 more, due to not being able to read contract when hurried through. They called the day before pickup to only say they can’t make it due to a “broken truck”. Then didn’t show up for seven days afterwards, (after I had already turned off services in the house I was living in, and holding onto a uhaul for seven days!) they would not answer phone call, or emails!!! Once they showed up, 3 HOURS later, took my stuff, charged me another $1,000!!!!! told me (after quoting me a 3-4 day wait) said we wouldn’t have our stuff up to 30 days!!!!! Almost three weeks later, finally got our stuff, all totes completely destroyed, couldn’t even help a woman unwrap all of her furniture and set it up!!!! Plus the lady on the phone said it is oky to just call them and make the last of the payment over phone with a credit card, when I was denied and told only cash or money order!!!! By far the worst most stressful experience I have ever dealt with!!! DO NOT GET A THIRD PARTY!!! Just do it yourself. People were all rude! Never again. Due yourself a favor and listen to these one star reviews. They are all true.
